Our Church History:

Harmony Missionary Baptist Church of Richmond was organized in the Intensive Care Waiting Room of Kaiser Hospital in Richmond. CA on June 9th, 2002. The seven members present were: Reverend David B. Jones, Sister Lisa Padilla, Sister Loretta Varnado, Sister Brandy Varnado, Brother Patrick Jones, Sister Gladys Scott and Sister Ora Jones.

It was decided, that our first official church service would be held July 14th, 2002 at the home of Reverend Willie Jones and Sister Ora Jones. It was on the first day of service that three new members were added: Sisters Antania Bolton, Desiree Israel, and Charnique Jones. God continues to bless our congregation with many new members today!

We soon realized that we needed to relocate to a larger venue to accommodate our growing church. We moved into the Girls Inc. building in Richmond and worshipped there until we outgrew it. We then moved to 3024 Cutting Blvd., where we turned a former nightclub into our house of worship. Our first service was held on the first Sunday in December. What a time we had! We marched in singing, "We've Come This Far By Faith".

Excited about what God had done for us, we began by reaching out into the community by feeding the homeless, providing free clothing and warm coats to the needy, as well as, evangelism throughout the neighborhood. We've continued to stay busy by engaging in a host of programs such as our Annual Prayer Breakfast, Youth Annual Day, and our Parade of States Battle, just to name a few.

However, God was not through with us yet. After worshipping in that building for over seven years, God has blessed us with a permanent home at 108 17th Street in Richmond, CA. God has truly smiled on us and we look forward to all that he has in store!
